Reading Resources for my 7 year old

Here is my resource list for some current things I am doing with my 7-year-old mostly for reading. My oldest and youngest are very different learners! My oldest could read at 3, my youngest has needed explicit, systematic instruction in phonics. Different kids need different things. We started with All About Reading, but he needs way more practice and it does move pretty fast. But it is the best open and go, multisensory reading program out there for homeschoolers. I then supplemented with Explode the Code workbooks, lots of hands-on activities, vintage readers with leveled controlled text (worked well for him, my favorites are the Bank Street readers), and some My Sidewalks readers (an intervention program that is used in schools but has great colorful readers). I actually worked specifically with kids with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities for years as a special education teacher for many years, but to be honest, I found it really hard to watch my own child struggle in the same way.

What has been working is doing some reading most days, building up skills sequentially, lots of practice, and being consistent!
